MOKOPANE: Mogalakwena Local Municipality is proud to announce that it has received multiple prestigious awards at the recent South African Local Government Association Awards, affirming the municipality’s unwavering commitment to sound financial management, accountability, and excellence in service delivery.
The municipality has been honoured with the following achievements:
APPRECIATION FOR IN-HOUSE REVIEW OF ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, FOR SUSTAINING UNQUALIFIED AUDIT OPINION, IN APPRECIATION FOR IN-HOUSE PREPARATION OF ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS – 2024/25, APPRECIATION FOR NOT INCURRING UNAUTHORISED EXPENDITURE DURING 2024/25 AUDIT CYCLE FOR 100%, ENDING OF 2024/25 REGIONAL BULK INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT ALLOCATION
AND IN APPRECIATION FOR 100% OF THE REGIONAL BULK INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT
According to Mayor Ngoako Taueatsoala, these accolades demonstrate the Mogalakwena Municipality’s strong governance systems, financial discipline, and institutional capacity. The ability to prepare and review Annual Financial Statements internally reflects the municipality’s strengthened internal controls and technical expertise within its Finance Department.
“Sustaining an unqualified audit opinion further confirms that the municipality continues to comply with legislative requirements and maintain transparent financial reporting practices. Importantly, not incurring any unauthorised expenditure during the 2024/25 audit cycle highlights strict adherence to the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and responsible budgeting,” explained Taueatsoala
The mayor also said the 100% expenditure of both the Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG) and the Water Services Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) allocations underscores the municipality’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development and improving access to water and related services for communities.
