RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO AVOID CROSS-FLOODED BRIDGES

MOKOPANE:  As heavy rains continue to fall, locals are urged to remain vigilant and prioritise their safety during the current heavy rains and flooding affecting some areas within the municipality, said Mogalakwena Local Municipal spokesperson Malesela Selokela.

According to the issued statement, residents are strongly advised to avoid crossing flooded rivers, streams, and low-lying bridges, as water levels can rise rapidly and pose serious danger. Motorists should exercise extreme caution on the roads and refrain from driving through flooded areas. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to ensure that children stay away from rivers, drainage systems, and other water bodies during this period.

Community members are urged to secure their property where possible and to immediately report any emergencies, infrastructure damage, or blocked stormwater systems to the municipality or relevant emergency services.

The municipality continues to monitor the situation closely and will work with emergency services to ensure the safety and well-being of all communities.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official municipal communication platforms and cooperate with authorities during this period.
